CSEM is a Swiss applied research and technology organization specializing in advanced microelectronics, MEMS, precision manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies. Its mission is to develop and transfer innovative technologies to industry through applied research, system integration, and technology validation.

In the semiconductor domain, CSEM focuses on metrology hardware, high precision MEMS components, multi sensor data fusion, machine learning, and failure analysis methodologies. These technologies contribute to improved yield, reliability, and efficiency in advanced semiconductor manufacturing and align with Industry 4.0 objectives.
Project Contribution
In the 14AMI project, CSEM acts as an associated partner contributing primarily to holistic metrology, process control, and failure analysis for advanced semiconductor nodes.
CSEM’s core contributions focus on:
Development of high‑precision MEMS-based E‑beam apertures for next‑generation CD‑SEM systems, supporting improved imaging, accuracy, and modular SEM column architectures.
Holistic electrical failure analysis (EFA) in collaboration with IMINA, integrating SEM imaging and deep‑learning to automate nanoprobe landing on targeted die locations, thereby improving fault localization accuracy, robustness, and throughput.
Through these activities, CSEM strengthens the 14AMI objectives on yield improvement, manufacturability, and data‑driven process control, while reinforcing Europe’s expertise in advanced semiconductor metrology and Industry 4.0 solutions.
